My Inaugural Lecture: "Space: A computational frontier in biomedical research” has been postponed from 25 May 2016 to 18 January 2017 (as UCU strike action has been announced for May 25th).


I am a Professor in the Department of Computer Science in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, where I am Deputy Head of Computer Science and I am heading the Biomedical Informatics Systems Engineering Lab (BISEL).


I also work as a Visiting Biomedical Informatics Research Scientist in the Mouse Atlas Group at the MRC Human Genetics Unit, which is part of the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine (IGMM) at Edinburgh University

As part of my collaborations with Edinburgh University I currently hold an appointment as Honorary Fellow based in the Deanery of Biomedical Sciences, in the College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine.
