I'm currently working as a Research Associate/Distance Learning Manager for the Institute for Computer Based Learning in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. I graduated from Heriot-Watt in July 2004, with a 2:1 BSc Hons in Mathematics before returning a year later to study MSc Information Technology (Multimedia), graduating with distinction in November 2005. Current Work

My responsibilities as Distance Learning Manager for the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University are to co-ordinate the distance learning activity within the school and manage the creation, repurposing and delivery of online learning materials in support of off-campus degree courses.

Past Projects

As a Research Associate I have worked on many projects related to enhancing the shareability of computer-based learning resources and to current awareness services for researchers. These projects were funded under the JISC Open Educational Resources (UKOER), Rapid Innovation (JISCRI) and Virtual Research Environments Rapid Innovation (VRERI) strands.

Outside work, I have various other interests, the main one being karate. My highest individual performances included 4th place in the European Senior All-Styles, 2 x Silver and 6 x Bronze medals at the European Wado Cup and a Silver at the British Championships. I have been Scottish, Scottish Open, Irish Open, British, European Wado and Commonwelath Team Champion. I am a nationally qualified referee and also webmaster for the Scottish Karate Federation. I now my own class for Azami Karate Group, specialising in competition karate.
