The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University is pleased to announce that it is offering a number of scholarships to new applicants from non-EU countries who have been offered a conditional or unconditional place on a full-time taught degree programme for the 2008-2009 session. Scholarships will be worth a GBP 2500 discount (abatement).
Please note that students MUST hold an offer for a course before applying for the scholarship. If evidence is not supplied, the application will not be considered.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 30 June 2008. We are unable to consider applications received after this date.

The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS) comprises three departments :
In Learning and Teaching, MACS offers the best of both worlds, with its distinctive blend of traditional and modern teaching and learning methods, and its focus on courses that meet the needs of employers in industry, business and society at large. The core of our mission is to provide students with up-to-date knowledge and skills that prepare them for successful and rewarding careers.
The scholarships are available to both undergraduate students and postgraduate students studying on taught courses. Eligible courses within Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics are all BSc (undergraduate) courses, the Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Actuarial Science, the MSc in Financial Mathematics and the Graduate Certificate in the Mathematical Sciences.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit demonstrated by the applicant's qualifications and references as well as the strength of their application. APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A FINANCIAL GUARANTEE FOR THE REMAINING FEE AMOUNT PLUS THEIR LIVING EXPENSES WITH THE COMPLETED SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM.
