During the summer of 2005, Heriot-Watt University invited developers of
software in Scotland to complete a survey aimed at discovering more about
how tools are used to produce software. This paper presents the results of
this survey, with a total of 33 respondents from organisations representing
various industrial sectors within Scotland.
This document is split into 3 sections: firstly, we present the actual survey responses in a raw format, amended to protect the confidentiality of the respondents; secondly we summarise the key observations that can be
determined from this raw data; and finally we stress the key facts that we
believe this survey has uncovered.
