About this site/About Me

My ugly mug here My name is Stuart Davidson, and this is my legacy at Heriot Watt - my dissertation project for what was my 5th and final year of a Masters in Software Engineering.

I now work for a company called Agilent Technologies, and my office is based in South Queensferry. I work in a team called the Development Support Group, and I administrate the infrastructure we have in place (ClearCase, ClearQuest, Build Farms etc) and sometimes create some of my own applications to solve certain problems.

This site came to be when Heriot Watt lecturers wanted more emphasis and learning support for Java GUIs during the course of a Computer Science (or related) degree without dedicating more time to it in lectures. It was put forward as a dissertation topic and I jumped on the chance to get involved with Java, GUIs and Web Development...all areas of Computer Science that interest me (I like pretty colours).

I'd like to thank David Marwick for all his help and guidance over the last few years, Phillipe De Wilde for being my second reader and Brian Palmer for letting me unleash this site on his second years. I'd also like to thank my girlfriend Fiona for the patience and support she's shown even though I'm a geek, and my good friend Jackie who has helped me with the graphics on the site.
