Campus Accommodation

All classes are held in or close to the department which is located on the university's Edinburgh campus, at Riccarton, on the western outskirts of Edinburgh, eight miles from the city centre. The 380-acre site is a mixture of landscaped parkland with mature woods around a small loch.

The excellent facilities available on the campus include a bank, general store, a bookshop, a medical centre, hairdresser, bank, restaurants and bars. The university boasts one of the finest sports centres of any UK campus together with extensive playing fields and the new £6 million Sports Academy.

The campus is served by several frequent bus services to and from Edinburgh city-centre.

Halls of residence are set into the wooded parkland, some overlooking the loch and all are within a few minutes walk of the department. These modern buildings have fully fitted single and double study bedrooms many of which have private bathrooms.

Diploma and MSc students are eligible to apply for a place in the residences and the university can effectively guarantee a place to all students (provided you have accepted an unconditional offer and have applied for a place by August prior to commencing your studies in September). The accommodation is either on a self-catering basis or with catering provided in the refectories and coffee shop/snack bar. There is a lounge and pantry in each building and laundry facilities are also available.
