Blow-up and Thermal Fluctuations in the Nonlinear Schödinger Equation

Abstract: Recent joint work with Yu. B. Gaididei, O. Bang and K. Oe. Rasmussen on the effect of multiplicative white noise in the two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger Equation will be reported. The main result is that blow-up can be prevented by sufficiently stong fluctuations. The possibilities of applying this model to collective excitations of Langmuir-Blodgett Scheibe aggregates are discussed.
