I'm an Associate Professor in Computing Science at Heriot-Watt University. My research focusses on data interpretation and communication during crisis management. I'm also really involved in women in CS and STEM and in schools outreach.
RSE Year of Conversation
I chaired two sessions at the RSE's Art of Conversation event, which kicked off their Year of Conversation. The first was on Conversations in a Digial World, with Iain Donald, Ian LeBruce and James Blake, and the second was on children and conversation, with Andrew Manches. It was a very interesting event.
ISCRAM board election
I was very happy to be elected to the board of directors of ISCRAM - the learned society for Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management. I'm looking forward to getting even more involved in the community, and am particuarly planning to work on developing intra-community interaction and collaboration.
