Past meetings:

This is a collaborative seminar, funded by grants from the London and Edinburgh Mathematical Societies and the Glasgow Mathematical Journal. We have been meeting at least three times a year since 2003.

In October and November 2020, NBGGT hosted three pairs of 1 hour lectures aimed at postgraduate students,, given by ECRs Alex Evetts, Alan Logan and Marialaura Noce, in October and November 2020, commissioned and funded by the LMS, and now available together all the other LMS lectures at an LMS administered site.

The first of our three NBGGT meetings for 2020,21 was run on zoom from Edinburgh on Wednesday 11th November 2020. The second was run on zoom from Glasgow on 22nd January 2021.

The third was at the BMC in Glasgow on 7th and 8th April 2021.

In 2019,20 our first meeting was on 13th November at the ICMS in Edinburgh.

Our second meeting was planned to be a two day meeting, run as the Breakout session for Groups at the Glasgow BMC 2020; , but was then postponed by 12 months, due to the Coronavirus crisis. the Glasgow BMC has now been postponed until Our final meeting of 2019,20 was held via Zoom, on Friday 29th May 2020 from Newcastle,

We have been meeting at least three times a year since the Autumn of 2003, and have a record of our past meetings.

In 2018,19 our first meeting was on Wed. 31st October in Newcastle, the second one on Wed 6th February 2019 in Durham, and the third one on Wed 22nd May 2019 in St Andrews.

In 2017,18 our first meeting was at Durham on 18th Oct, our second at ICMS in Edinburgh on Monday 5th February, and our third in St Andrews on Thursday June 14th, at the BMC.

In 2016,17 our first meeting was at St Andrews on 9th Nov, our second at ICMS in Edinburgh on 17th March, and our third in Glasgow on May 17th.

In 2015,16 we met in St Andrews on 16th December, then in Durham in 22nd February, and then in Edinburgh at the ICMS on 16th March.

Our first meeting in 2014,15 was in Glasgow on Friday 7th November and Saturday 8th November, designed to coincide and link with a meeting in Glasgow of ARTIN, the Algebra and Representation Theory in the North network. Our second meeting in 2014,15 was in Durham on Wednesday 4th March. Our third meeting in 2014,15 was in York on Wednesday 27th May.

Our first meeting in 2013,14 was in Glasgow on Wednesday 6th November. Our second meeting in 2013,14 was in Durham on Wednesday 12th March. Our third meeting in 2013,14 was in York on Wednesday 11th June.

Our first meeting in 2012,13 was on December 5th 2012 in Newcastle. Our second was on Friday 22nd March 2013 at the ICMS in Edinburgh. Our third was on Thursday 20th June 2013 in Durham. We had a fourth meeting in 2012,13 on September 6th 2013 in Newcastle.

In 2011,12 we met on November 30th 2011 in Newcastle, on March 21st 2012 in Edinburgh on 24th August 2012 in Glasgow.

In 2010,11 we met on December 8th 2010 at the ICMS in Edinburgh. then in Durham and Newcastle.

In 2009,10 we met in Glasgow on 25th November 2009, then on March 10th 2010 in York. and on July 7th Nottingham. and LMS Northern Meeting 2010 was in Newcastle in April, with a workshop on a geometric group theory theme.

In 2008,9 we met in York on 3rd December 2008, in Nottingham on 29th April 2009, and in Newcastle on 13th July 2009.

In 2007,8. we met in Manchester on 31st October 2007. in Leeds on 30th April 2008. and then in Newcastle on 2nd July 2008.

In 2006,7 we met in Edinburgh on 10th March 2006,. in York on 7th March 2007, . in Glasgow on 13th June 2007 .

In 005,6 we met in Edinburgh on 23rd November 2005 in Nottingham on 22nd March, in Durham on June 7th, and then in Newcastle on July 19th.

The meetings for 2004,5 were in York on Wednesday 8th December 2004 , in Durham on 23rd February 2005 and Newcastle on Friday 13th May 2005.

In 2003,4 the seminar met in York on Wednesday 19th November 2003 in Edinburgh on Wednesday 25th February 2004 , and in Nottingham on Wednesday 19th May 2004. Then in July 2004 the LMS northern meeting took place in Newcastle, with Geometric Group Theory as its theme, and Gromov and Grigorchuk as speakers.
