1. Students can carry out projects on a variety of topics in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. The project should take the student beyond the courses they have already been taught and examined in on the MSc. (1.1 The project should: include a suitable literature survey relevant to the topic; provide scope for the student to learn independently and apply mathematics in a new area; provide an opportunity for the student to learn skills associated with time management, prioritisation of work and meeting deadlines; involve the writing up of a well-structured report and the associated skills; and include an opportunity for the student to discuss the details of their project.)
