Aims

To continue concentrated, independent study of a mathematical topic and to develop further report writing and presentation skills started in F10GP

Syllabus

1. Directed reading and other research. (1.1 A suitable mathematics topic will be chosen from a list prepared by the department in semester 1 of the 4th year. The student will have weekly meetings with the project supervisor, who will guide the student in the investigation of the topic.)

2. Oral presentation of the project (2.1 Prepare and deliver an oral presentation saying a what the project is about b what has been done so far; c how it will be continued and completed.)

3. Written report (3.1 The conclusion of the project is a written report giving a coherent account of the topic studied over the semester, using illustrative examples, calculations, coding, graphs, figures, etc. as appropriate to the topic. The main body of the dissertation should have a length between 15 to 25 pages of A4 depending on the topic treated in Latex, with a 12pt single-spaced fontsize.)
