Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
- Establish the capabilities and limitations of data models and database management systems, in relational and XML paradigms to explain the nature, scope and boundaries of those
- Design databases to a specification by applying the theoretical foundations of databases
- Demonstrate competencies around the use of software tools and languages in the design, development and management of databases
- Critically appraise features and interfaces to DBMS systems to compare between different systems and establish capabilities of these
- Evaluate emerging database technologies
