Syllabus

1. Working with a Client (1.1 1. Gather requirements from a client, 1.2 2. Synthesise requirements, 1.3 3. Keep client updated with progress, 1.4 4. Make changes based on client feedback)

2. Solving a Real-World Problem (2.1 1. Design a solution to the client's problem, 2.2 2. Manage the complexities of dealing with real-world issues, 2.3 3. Deploy the solution so it can be used)

3. Work Effectively as a Group (3.1 1. Divide the work effectively and fairly, 3.2 2. Work flexibly to complete the project, 3.3 3. Report and manage the group, 3.4 4. Work with a manager to ensure success)

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:

• solve a real-world problem through collaboration with a client and/or real users
• deploy said solution on appropriate hardware, with consideration of real-world requirements
• demonstrate knowledge of professional skills and conduct with regards to the technical, communication, and human issues in interfacing with a real client
• manage a complicated real-world project in a group setting
• facilitate regular progress meetings and results reporting to industry standard
