Aims
The main aim of this course is to provide the student with an opportunity to produce a complete game or innovative game mechanic that demonstrates a game design concept that challenges establish designs and innovates in the area. Furthermore, this course aims to give the opportunity to execute a significant practical investigation, development work, and the promotion of exploration, exploitation, and enterprise of games concepts.
Syllabus
1. Supervised Project Work (1.1 Supervised Project Work during the summer., 1.2 * review of related design ideas and development prototypes work,, 1.3 * finalising a specification for completing and releasing a game,, 1.4 * creation of a personal strategy to fulfil the design and development objectives,, 1.5 * implementation of the various components, mechanics and aesthetics,, 1.6 * iterative evaluation and analysis of feedback for the final project,, 1.7 * evaluation of the commercial feasibility of the project output,, 1.8 * reporting and presentation of the game project., 1.9 * professionalism in a studio environment.)
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
- apply critical understanding of the specialised area of interactive games including principal theories and key concepts to develop a complex game or prototype.
- demonstrate critical knowledge and skills in the application of design, development, evaluation, production, and product release techniques in the wide area of digital games.
- research, apply and reflect on solutions to be able to complete a game project.
- enquiry and research different platforms and release venues to produce a digital game.
- show professional responsibility and professional know-how to apply in your project work.
- interface and interact professionally with various industrial bodies and communities to develop professionally.
- develop original and creative responses to queries and provide solutions to be able to complete your game project.
- act and work professionally in a creative studio environment to be able to demonstrate professional experience in such environments.
- communicate projects and complex concepts with peers, senior colleagues, and specialists verbally and visually.
- apply critical analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of advanced or specialised topics to showcase and develop innovative game ideas.
