Syllabus

1. Industrial placement, involving authoring of a log book, technical authoring, and regular reports (1.1 This course is an industry placement and the student will be line-managed by an industry contact. There are no taught components in this course., 1.2 NOTE: This course is assessed by continuous assessment, and courses F21IA, F21IB, F21IC and F21ID are synoptic courses with this assessment/course., 1.3 NOTE: the logbook is normally retained on company premises for confidentially)

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:

manage the time and effort involved in planning of an industrially based project
demonstrate and exercise a solid understanding of monitoring and control within an industrially-based project
communicate effectively with professional peers and managers on technical and non-technical issues related to the project
identify distinctive features of industrial placements
develop and make effective use of a logbook and submit reports.
