Aims
To introduce students to the basics of game design, theory, and paper prototyping
Syllabus
1. Research current design tropes
2. Design an initial board game idea and present it
3. Utilise feedback to improve initial design
4. Work in small groups to develop final paper prototype
5. Present final prototype and explain design
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:

investigate common design tropes and apply them to simple paper prototypes

demonstrate ability to work within a defined structure both as an individual and in a team

convey complex game design ideas in well-structured and coherent form

ability to understand design and implement game ideas into a prototype

demonstrate ability to use simple industry standard tools within a design framework
