Aims

To give students an introduction to designing, conducting, and analysing experiments that involve human participants, along with other basic methods of studying interaction with computational artifacts.

Syllabus

1. Interaction design (1.1 Design principles, 1.2 Mental and cognitive models)

2. User requirements and ethics (2.1 Understand users and user needs and requirements, 2.2 Ethics around working with users and user data)

3. Experimental design (theory) (3.1 Learn about different types of experiments and experimental methods)

4. Experimental design (practical) (4.1 Design an experiment to test a theory.)

5. Collect and analyse data (5.1 Collect data from experiment, 5.2 Analyse data, 5.3 Present data)

6. Report writing (6.1 Report experimental design, 6.2 Report data, 6.3 Discuss findings, 6.4 Present conclusions)
