Aims

To carry out a sustained and intensive piece of independent work on topics in actuarial management and to write a substantial report or reports that communicates the results of this work to others interested in actuarial mathematics and practise.

Syllabus

1. Project work (1.1 Students can carry out projects on a variety of topics in Actuarial Management. The project or projects should take the student beyond the courses they have already been taught and examined in on the MSc.)

2. Communication (2.1 Students develop and demonstrate their ability to communicate complex work to a variety of audience types.)

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:

(Evaluate) Draw balanced conclusions from their analysis of an actuarial problem
synthesise learning from throughout the programme to address an extended actuarial problem
use research skills to identify suitable published data, techniques or analysis from beyond their existing knowledge to address an extended actuarial problem
work independently to investigate an actuarial problem
communicate actuarial analysis and results appropriately for a given audience
