3. Describing and understanding data (3.1 graphical and numerical summaries)
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic sampling concepts and various sampling methods.
- Explain the differences between data collected from experiments and observational studies.
- Present data using appropriate graphical displays and understand techniques for displaying distributions of variables.
- Calculate numerical summaries of data and interpret them as measures of location and spread or variability of data.
- Conduct simple statistical analyses using Microsoft Excel and interpret them correctly.
