Course co-ordinator(s): Carmen Boado Penas (Edinburgh).
Aims:
Climate-related issues, such as natural disasters, extreme heat and/or biodiversity loss, together with the failure to respond to these challenges in time, dominate reports issued by international organisations such as the World Economic Forum.
This course explores future impacts of the resulting climate risks on society. The course will introduce issues relating to climate science and future predictions, in addition to legislative requirements and government initiatives to combat climate change. In particular it will discuss the impact of climate risks on society and on the financial and the insurance sectors.
