\nAbout me:<\/strong>
\nI am currently finishing my PhD in HCI at Heriot-Watt in Edinburgh. My main interests are interfaces inspired by playful natural interactions with the real world and methodology of measuring creativity. Recently I’ve recieved a Google EMEA Scholarship and was chosen a Google Student Ambassador. In my spare time I aim to share my skills with community: I’m organizing HW Ethical Hackathon, running @participatehw and supervising.<\/p>\n

While shopping online for textiles we face the perceptual gap between qualities we can sense on the digital device and those we sense when handling the real textile product<\/strong>. In this research I first investigate the qualities that people look for when interacting with textiles. Further I examine the gestures we commonly use to handle fabrics and propose a way to imitate them on mobile device<\/strong>. Finally I prototype touch-screen interactive-video interfaces and asses best practice.<\/p>\n

As a part of my research I am developing interactive iPad textile simulations <\/a> using movement, gestures and sound. Our portfolio platform shoogleit.com<\/a> finally reached a stage where any small designer\/artist can make them at home and use them in their website\/ebay\/facebook.<\/p>\n

\nIn this paper we present a novel tool that improves on current archiving and simulation of fabrics by bridging the perceptual gap. We built upon recent research in HCI and educational psychology to create a novel gestural interaction system that allows users to digitally share their designs at minimal cost.
