The Policy Editor enables Personal Reader users to define policies in order to regulate the access to their user profile, which is stored as RDF data. The great benefit of the Policy Editor is that users don’t have to be capable of the underlying policy language (Protune) as the policy creation is realized by using predefined policy-templates. These predefined policy-templates are computed as a function of RDF statements which have been requested by a certain web service.
The Policy Editor is provides two views: the Basic Editor view and the Pattern Editor view. As the entry point of the Policy Editor the Basic Editor view offers a summary of the requested RDF statements and the requesting web service but its main function is the definition of so called basic policies. Basic policies regulate the access to one requested RDF statement and only affect the current requesting web service. The Pattern Editor provides the possibility to create policies that affect more than one statement or more than one web service. Furthermore policies can be equipped with a “timestamp” that determines its validity.
