Large Deformation Atlas Registration; Dr Bill Hill (MRC Human Genetics Unit, UK);

AbstractBiomedical atlas systems for spatially mapped data contain a large number of collected assay images mapped onto a small number of atlas models. For spatial atlases of embryonic development the large deformations required for mapping have presented a severe challenge. This paper addresses the mapping problem directly and describes a solution; the Constrained Distance Transform (CDT). CDTs are described and shown to produce useful mappings between assay images and standard atlas models, also between standard atlas models of different species enabling cross species atlas interoperability.
