Bernd J Schroers

NEWS ---I am looking for ** PhD students starting in 2021 ** to work on `Magnetic skyrmions' or `Noncommutative geometry in 3d quantum gravity' - to apply scroll down at Maxwell Graduate School . If you are interested in other PhD projects related to topological solitons or 3d gravity please contact me directly!

I am a Professor of Mathematics
in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. I also co-chair the management committee of the
ICMS and am co-director of the Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Sciences. My official homepage is here.

My research area is mathematical physics, particularly geometric and solitonic models of matter and quantum gravity in three dimensions. For details have a look at my publications, and those of my current and past research students. I am a founding member of the Edinburgh Mathematical Physics Group (EMPG) and the North British Mathematical Physics Seminars (NBMPS).

When not in Edinburgh I am often in South Africa, Ghana or Rwanda in connection with the African Institutes for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) there.
