One of the leading bands in progressive rock, they started out as a jazzrock oriented outfit, but later turned to more commercial records. Their Mirage and Nude are considered classic albums of the genre. Actually much of their easy-going music is likable, but especially in their end seventies period stuck to writing a good song now and then, instead of good albums (Ice on I Can See Your House From Here being a point in case). From Stationary Traveller on the albums have been in the lift and Dust And Dreams is also considered a very good album. Andy Latimer is the leading element of the band, Peter Bardens having departed some time ago, and is revered for his emotional guitar playing. Lately the records have been rather mellow, but live the music still comes out very well.
