A Taxi from Edinburgh airport (which is situated to the west of the
city of Edinburgh and which is not far from the Riccarton campus),
takes about 10 minutes and costs around 12 pounds. An alternative
(but longer route) is to take the bus (which runs frequently) from the
airport to the city centre and then take a bus from the city centre to
Heriot-Watt University. This costs about 5 pounds but takes up to two
hours. A taxi from city center costs also around 12 pounds. You can
also get buses from Princess street in the city centre directly to
Heriot-Watt.
All buses to Heriot-Watt (Riccarton-Campus) stop at the James-Watt
Centre (building A on the campus map found here) where the university RECEPTION (OPEN 24 HOURS a DAY) is
located. If you take a taxi, ask it to take you to James-Watt centre.
At the RECEPTION (OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY) at James-Watt centre, you will
be directed to your accommodation in Robert Bryson hall (building h
on the campus map found here) and to
the Earl Mountbatten building (number 2 on the campus map found here)
where the symposium will be held.
At the RECEPTION (OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY) at James-Watt centre, ask for a
paper copy of this campus map found here and let
them show you where the Earl Mountbatten building is. Go to the Earl
Mountbatten building for the talks. The Earl Mountbatten building is
five minutes walk from the reception of James-Watt.
You may want to print this map in advance. You find it in colour here
and in printable black and white form here.
If you have booked accommodation with us, go to the RECEPTION (OPEN 24
HOURS A DAY) at James-Watt centre. The receptionists will direct you
to both your accommodation and to the symposium's location. Your
accommodation is 2 minutes walk from the reception. You may also want
to look at our guest information found here.
If you have booked accommodation with us, then please note that
breakfast IS INCLUDED. We have many restaurants and dining places on
campus. Your breakfast is served every day in the MAIN DINING ROOM
which is on the middle floor of C found on the campus map mentioned
above. Ask the reception to show you where it is on the map. The
times for breakfast are: Mon-Fri 0730-0900, Sat-Sun 0830-0930. You
will be issued with breakfast cards by Reception on arrival. Make
sure this is the case.
The symposium takes place every day in room 1.27 (except on the
afternoon of wednesday where it will be in room 1.83) of the Earl
Mountbatten building situated on number 2 of the campus map found here.
For those who have not booked accommodation with us, you may want to
go directly to room 1.27 (or 1.83 on wednesday afternoon) of the
Earl Mountbatten building
situated on number 2 of the campus map found here. In
all cases, the receptionists are very helpful at James-Watt centre if
you cannot follow the maps.
