Go backward to Queen
Go up to Cube Movement
Go forward to Rook
Bishop
The Bishop retains its usual horizontal diagonal move, of course, with the
added ability to move diagonally in 3 dimensions. This is the move that
was referred to as the diagonal stair-step. This is where it can get
confusing, however. The bishop may ONLY move diagonally in 3 dimensions
in the directions of the CORNERS of the cube it is in. Another way to look
at it would be that for every diagonal step on the horizontal plane, the
bishop also takes a step up or down, depending on which direction it is
traveling in. Thus, because again there are 8 corners to the cube, and the
bishop retains its original four directions of travel, the bishop can move
in 12 directions.
