Venue
The meeting will take place in the Benedictine Abbey of Frauenwörth which is situated in a beautiful landscape at the edge of the Bavarian Alps on the Fraueninsel (island of women) in Lake Chiemsee. The Chiemsee is the largest lake in Bavaria. The Fraueninsel has a surface of ca. 12 hectares and can be discovered on a comfortable circular walk within 20 minutes. With more than 50 houses and approximately 250 inhabitants it is densely inhabited, the area of the abbey covers about one third of the whole island. Accommodation will be provided in the Abbey of Frauenwörth and the Island.

General Notes
- You reach the venue by boat from "Prien am Chiemsee" or from "Gstadt". Please find the ferry departure times below. Prien/Gstadt can be reached as described in the detailed travel information below.
- If you arrive on Monday, 26 November 2007 and would like to have dinner at the abbey you should catch the boat from Prien at 17:00 or from Gstadt at 16:50 since dinner will be served at 18:00.
- We will provide a shuttle service from Munich airport to Gstadt. Please check details below.
- Because of the departure times of the ferry you are advised not to book a return flight that departs before 10:00 am from Munich or Salzburg airport.
- People coming from the UK are advised to choose Salzburg Airport for their arrival and departure by plane.

Detailed Travel Information
By air: Airport Munich, Germany
[München-F.-J.-Strauß];
From the Munich airport take the Shuttle
service or use public transportation, viz. suburban train (S8)
to Munich East-Station [München Ost-Bahnhof], (every 20 min.
in the afternoon); change to train to [Prien am Chiemsee], approx.
90 min. Groups of up to 5 using the regional train [Regionalbahn]
can get a cheaper ticket [Bayern-Ticket]; see for travel
connections the on-line service of the German Railways.
From Prien take bus, taxi, Chiemsee-train or a 20 minute walk to
the port [Prien-Stock]; boat to Fraueninsel
(boat-ride approx. 25-35 minutes). Total distance: approx. 130
km.
By air: Airport Salzburg, Austria
[Salzburg-W.A.Mozart];
From the Salzburg airport take the Shuttle
service or use public transportation, viz. take bus or taxi to
Salzburg main train station; take train to Prien am Chiemsee.
Groups of up to 5 using the regional train [Regionalbahn] can get a
cheaper ticket [Bayern-Ticket]; see for travel connections the

From Prien take bus, taxi or the Chiemsee-train or take a walk of
20 minutes to the port [Prien-Stock]; boat to
Fraueninsel (boat-ride approx. 25-35 minutes). Total distance:
approx. 70 km.

Munich/Salzburg Airport

By train:
From Munich main station take a train heading for Salzburg –
trains run every hour – get off at "Prien am
Chiemsee"; take a bus, taxi or Chiemsee-train to port
Prien-Stock or take a walk of 20 minutes; take boat to Fraueninsel
(boat-ride approx. 25-35 minutes). See for travel connections the

By car:
Highway A8 Munich-Salzburg, exit Bernau, continue via Prien in the
direction of Rimsting/Breitbrunn to Gstadt; park and take boat
(boat-ride approx. 10 minutes); parking fees in Gstadt: first day 2
EUR, every following day 1,50 EUR (Route
planners)
On the island:
After landing on the island you have to follow the sign
"Klosterpforte". From the "Hauptsteg" you have to walk approx. 3
min, and from the "Nordsteg" approx. 7-10 min. At the
"Klosterpforte" enter the door "Seminaranmeldung". If the door is
locked please ring the bell at the counter beside the
"Seminaranmeldung". You will be assigned your keys and will receive
further instructions. For emergeny cases please call the
monastery's seminar manager Ms Scholastica at +49 (0)8054 7644.
Daily departure times of the regular ferry
1. Prien-Fraueninsel
a) in the morning: 6:40, 7:15, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00,
12:00
b) in the afternoon: every hour on the hour until 17:00; plus a
last ferry at 18:30
2. Gstadt-Fraueninsel
a) in the morning: 6:15, 7:20, 8:10, from 8:50 every hour
b) last ferry: 18:55
3. Fraueninsel-Prien
a) in the morning: 7:30, 8:20, from 9:00 every hour on the
hour
b) last ferry: 18:00
4. Fraueninsel-Gstadt
a) in the morning: 6:05, 7:05, 7:40, 8:30, afterwards every hour on
the half hour until 17:30
b) last ferry: 19:00 (from Nordsteg)

Night Boat from Gstadt to Fraueninsel
If you miss the last boat you have the possibility to take the night boat from Gstadt to Fraueninsel:

Waiting periods up to 30 min. after calling
Prices: Note that you always have to pay for at least 8 persons
even if you are alone on the boat! This fact is already taken into
account for the prices given below.
7 pm to 11 pm: 36,- euros
11:30 pm to 1 am : 72,- euros
1 am to 6 am: 144,- euros
