3D
and Other Plots
Work
has been done on innovative ways of displaying the complex
tree data. Radial plots are commonly used for display
of complex phylogenetic data, as display, it allows
visualisation of complete trees at a coarse granularity.
Anatomy trees can be viewed using the same plots.

At
a finer granularity, the radial plot loses clarity as
labels tend to overlap. The Anatomy Browser developed
by XSPAN allows the user to zoom in on areas
of the plot while retaining context. The
use of 3D plots allows nodes on different trees to
be connected, for example to show analogous structures
across species. They can also be used to visualise the
relationship between structures across developmental
stages.
