I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. My research covers topics in optimisation, data mining, medical informatics, systems biology and non-standard computation. I am interested in complex systems, particularly understanding complexity in biological systems and how this can motivate the design of computer systems. I'm also a member of the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics.
