African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS)
The first AIMS was founded in 2003 near Cape Town, South Africa. To find out more, have a look at its webpage or watch this feature on euronews. I have taught residential, intensive courses on various topics at AIMS centres in South Africa, Ghana, Senegal and Rwanda annually since 2005, and am an Associate Faculty Member of AIMS.

The goal of the Next-Einstein Initiative (
AIMS-NEI) is the establishment and operation of a network of fifteen centres of excellence across Africa. I chaired the Academic Advisory Board for AIMS-Ghana 2012-17 and the Management Committee of the James Clerk Maxwell AIMS Fund, established with generous support of the Scottish Funding Council, during 2012-2016.
