Getting to
ESSLLI 2005
ESSLI 2005 will be hosted by Heriot-Watt
University in the Riccarton campus in beautiful Edinburgh
during the impressive festive
month.
Heriot-Watt University is situated on the
A71 half a mile west of the Calder Junction exit from the A720
city bypass. The city bypass connects with the A8/M8 and M9
(west and central Scotland), A1 east and south and A7 and A68
(Borders and south) within easy reach of the bustling city
centre.
There is a visitors car park (called
the T-park) free of charge. It takes you around 8 minutes
walk from the T-park to the school where the talks are. This
parking place is at the entrance to the campus. See VISITORS
CAR PARK on the campus map. Admission requirements for other
car parks vary.
Edinburgh airport is 10 minutes by car,
Glagow is 40 minutes by car, London 1 hour by air or 4.5 hours
by train. A regular bus service from the city centre to the
main conference building at the University takes 30-45
minutes.
The Edinburgh Campus is set in beautiful
parkland in the west of Scotland's capital city. It's a
friendly, welcoming place, with public spaces for people to
stop, chat with friends or take a break between lectures. Its
self-contained environment offers everything you need for
daily life, such as shops, a bank, eating places, a health
centre and the student services offices.
In the map you can see highlighted
Earl Mountbatten Building (number 2 & 6)
where the ESSLLI courses are going to take place. It takes
about 5 minutes walking from the residences where you will be
staying to the ESSLLI site.

Further local information is available on Heriot-Watt's
Visitor Pages.
